I have been teaching children and adults with dyslexia for nearly 25 years. I offer differentiated remediation of literacy skills for students with dyslexia. I specialize in those with common co-morbid disorders, including attention issues, sensory-seeking behaviors, phonological working memory issues, and deficits in executive functioning.

I hold the following certifications:

  • Orton-Gillingham
  • Lindamood-Bell
  • Structured Word Inquiry

I have a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Maryland – Baltimore. My experience includes working as a research scientist in labs at both University of California San Diego and San Diego State University studying many different topics including visual psychophysics, psycholinguistics of deafness and sign language, bimodal bilingualism, and deafness and reading.

My interest in working with dyslexic students stems from having a mother and brother with dyslexia. Growing up, I watched their struggles with reading and spelling and how these struggles negatively affected their self-esteem. My approach in working with students today is to address the whole student, beginning with a structured literacy approach and addressing phonological working memory deficits, ADHD, and executive functioning skills.
